Papa John's International, Inc. ranks as the third largest pizza chain in the United States, trailing only Pizza Hut (a division of YUM! Brands, Inc.) and Domino's, Inc. The company has built a chain of more than 2,800 pizza delivery and carry-out restaurants operating under the trademark "Papa John's" in 49 states, the District of Columbia, and 20 international markets. Approximately 570 of the outlets are company owned, with the remainder being franchised. The firm also franchises about 115 Perfect Pizza restaurants in the United Kingdom. After the opening of its first store in 1985, Papa John's grew rapidly through the late 1990s before settling in as a more mature company in the following decade. In a highly competitive segment of the restaurant industry, Papa John's has managed to carve out a highly profitable niche by offering a very limited menu consisting of pizza, breadsticks, cheese sticks, chicken strips, chicken wings, and canned or bottled soft drinks; and by using high-quality ingredients and touting them in its trademark slogan "Better Ingredients. Better Pizza."



Greek Pizza

This limited time offer starts May 25 and lasts through June 28, 2015. The delicious Greek Pizza features Papa John’s fresh, never frozen, original hand tossed pizza dough and is layered with both its signature pizza sauce and rich basil pesto. Next, it’s topped with ripe black olives, fresh Roma tomatoes, premium pepperoni, feta cheese crumbles and mozzarella cheese, and garnished with banana peppers.

Fritos Chili Pizza

The Fritos pie traces back to the 1930s when Fritos were originally created, and is simply Fritos topped with chili and cheese, according to Papa John’s. The chain is essentially just taking that and putting it on the crust. The Fritos Chili Pizza has beef, chili, Roma tomatoes, onions, cheddar, mozzarella, and of course Fritos corn chips on Papa John's pizza dough.  In addition there's an extra handful of mozzarella.

Papa John's Copycat Recipe

Makes 16

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 (16 oz.) tube refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly oil a baking sheet or coat with nonstick spray. In a small bowl, whisk together butter, Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, parsley and salt; set aside.

Halve each of the 8 biscuits, making 16 pieces. Roll each piece into a 5 inch rope, about 1/2 inch thick, and tie into a knot, tucking the ends. Place knots onto the prepared baking sheet and brush each knot with half of the butter mixture. Place into oven and bake until golden brown, about 8 to 10 minutes. Serve immediately, brushed with remaining butter mixture.
